Available in 8GB and 16GB capacities, the Cowon S9 is set apart by its phenomenal audio quality and OLED touch-screen display. Cowon’s S9 portable media player offers a beautiful OLED touch-screen display, long battery life, and features such as Bluetooth audio, voice recording, FM radio, Flash media support, audio and video playback, a photograph spectator, and a text reader.

The lower edge of the S9 offers a power-hold switch, headphone jack, and a 20-pin USB jack commoner to cell telephones than MP3 players. Having the headphone jack smack in the middle of the S9’s lower edge makes it a bit clumsy to hold in landscape view, and unless there is a good excuse, we always wish to see mini-USB jacks on conveyable devices than specialised connectors.

In spite of all of the tiny faults we could nitpick about, the Cowon S9’s hardware scores large when it comes to the screen. Not only does the S9 employ a lightening-fast capacitive touch interface ( akin to the iPhone’s ), but its 3.3-inch screen is formed from OLED rather than standard LCD. The S9’s screen isn’t the size of the 3.5-inch screen on the iPod Touch, but it comes really close and is noticeably more significant than the screen on the Samsung P2. If you are choosy about screen quality, the S9’s 480×272 OLED display doesn’t disappoint : the colours are colourful, contrast is wonderful, and there is not a single viewing angle that doesn’t look good.

The Cowon S9 handles an inspiring array of audio and video formats and throws in extras ,eg Bluetooth audio, FM radio, voice recording, radio recording, BBE+ sound enhancement, a text reader, and a Flash media player that begs for games ( none are included ). If you are willing to shell out a further $9, you may also buy an accessory wire that enables the S9’s video-output capacities.

The Cowon S9 is a sexy-looking gadget with exceptional audio and video quality, but its construction quality and control panel recede in comparison to the competition.
