Fujifilm won many fans with its F30 and F31fd models, which mixed a little bigger than average sensors containing less pixels than their competition with some clever image processing, to supply some of the finest high ISO pictures we’d ever seen from a compact camera.
In reality, 3 years on, there are only a few compacts we are able to think of that do a better job once the sun goes down. Whilst playing lip-service to the wants of low-light photography, Fujifilm did not seem to make further progress in the direction the F30 had pioneered.
With the F200 EXR, Fujifilm appears to suggest that it wants to recover its low-light crown, based totally on a novel sensor technology it has developed.
In a time when compact cameras are increasingly becoming commoditized, it’s engaging to see a company attempting to use more than selling to distinguish its products. It has one of the biggest sensors employed in any compact camera mixed with a lens that gives a really helpful range, identical to 28-140mm in 35mm film terms. To put this into perspective, most DSLRs are supplied with lenses covering an approximately 28-85mm range. It’s not the brightest lens on the planet but it is not excessively slow compared to its peers.
The Fujifilm Finepix F200 EXR also offers image stabilization, which is an example of the best features for making sure solidly pointy images, together with modes that let a fair quantity of control over the camera and ones that look after everything for you.
