The Dell Latitude XT2 is a business-grade convertible notebook, offering multi-touch finger and digitized pen controls. With a slim and boxy frame it may not look as cool as some buyer tablets, but it finishes up being better to carry and smaller to go with. With an initial price of $1,930 it is simply one of the dearer tablets on the market, but it does include some not-so-common features. Is the Dell Latitude XT2 worth the serious price tag?

The Dell Latitude XT2 has a particularly pro, professional appearance with pointy lines and edges, all dark-grey design, and even exposed screws.

Instead, it is directed exactly at people who just wish to get down to business. The brushed metal surfaces are essentially specifically painted covers that give the look of metal but with the simplicity of upkeep that paint gives. The finish resists smudges and is way easier to wipe clean than most brushed metal exteriors. If it was painted matte black and had a Lenovo emblem published on it, you would swear it was regarded as a ThinkPad.

We like the side profile of the Latitude XT2, which is sort of completely square at all corners. It has no sloped surfaces, no rounded sides, and sits extremely low to the desk surface. If you’re carrying the tablet around in one arm it takes up such a touch of space that you actually don’t mind holding.

Access to user-serviceable parts is simple thru 2 areas. The drive is found underneath the battery, with 4 screws and a frame holding it prepared. The RAM, WiFi-card, and WWAN-card are found under a single access panel held in with 2 screws. For most upgrade wishes it should take no more than five mins to swap out any element.

This lets companies replace it in the event of an abortive BIOS update, rather than sending the whole machine in for repair.

Glorious battery life ; decent, just about full-size keyboard. Tasteless design with no excellent extras ; too-small touchpad. The Samsung NC10 is a totally average netbook in each way, but we like its keyboard and love its long-running battery. With Samsung’s current entry into the U.S. market, it actually appears sensible for the company to incorporate an example of the latest thing in computers right now–the humble Netbook.

As shown by other up to date big-name entrants like Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Acer, and Lenovo, it appears that no Computer maker’s lineup is complete without one of these tiny, low-price systems.

The Samsung netbook, called the NC10, is a $499 10-inch system, which could be mistaken for a Lenovo S10 or MSI Wind from across the room. Its most prominent feature is that it has no prominent features. It is a fully average Netbook in each way, lacking unique extras like the Lenovo Ideapad S10′s ExpressCard slot or the HP Mini one thousand’s massive keyboard. Not that there’s anything up with that.

We like the glorious battery life, 2nd only to Asus’ Netbooks. So, if extra-long battery life is more necessary to you than HP’s massive keyboard, Lenovo’s growth slot, or Dell’s customization options, then you will be pleased that Samsung ultimately made a decision to sell its wares stateside.

Getac is one of the most respected names in the market when it comes to making rugged notebooks and tablets. Getac V100 Rugged tablet is yet another tablet PC from Getac. What makes it so impressive is a screen rated at 1,200 nits brightness.

The look of the Getac V100, like nearly all totally craggy notebooks is extremely boxy. There’s nothing “consumer friendly” about this design. The V100 means business, and the magnesium amalgamate construction and rubber fenders covering the perimeters are sufficient to strike fear in the processors of average notebooks. The V100 is nearly twice as thick as a standard 12″ notebook or tablet and a ticket to match it’s rugged build.

The sturdiness of the screen on the V100 is reasonably galvanizing. Not only are the back of the screen and screen bezel impact resistant, but the screen itself can face up to a direct impact from a fist without any damage.

The screen of Getac V100 Rugged convertible notebook is a 10.4″ touchscreen with 1024 x 768 resolution that is bright enough to be easily read outside under bright daylight. Colours are bright, but have a washed out look thanks to the aggregate of the touchscreen surface and an incredibly powerful backlight. As listed in the specs, the V100 includes a screen with a backlight rated at 1,200 nits lightness.

Even if you turn the screen lightness down to the lowest setting it remains brighter than many standard notebook screens at almost maximum lightness.

The HP EliteBook 2730p is a pleasant Tablet Computer. It’s got a solid framework and a great design. We like the chrome steel look, it’s extremely sleek.

The 2730p is the update to the 2710p and has the majority of the same features, but it has the upgraded 1.86GHz Core two Pair processor and upgraded drive options. Right off the bat you spot the sleek appearance of this 12.1″ tablet. We enjoyed taking it to our buddy’s homes because they were impressed with the design.

We also like that the 2730p has both the pointing stick and a touchpad. Options are always nice, particularly if you aren’t keen on the pointing stick. We’d say this is a good update from the 2710p tablet. The 2730p has a12.1″ Illumi-Lite, WXGA UWVA, anti-glare with digitizer display.

The hinge is secure, so even in tablet mode the display is simple to read and locks into place. It weighs in around 3.7lbs, so it feels lightweight, but yet solid. It is easy to hold in tablet mode and fun to take notes with. HP has made the 2730p into a pleasant business tablet. Some users may desire more ports, but it has the average variety, we do wish there had been more then two USB ports though . There were no appearances of flex in the screen or hinge.

We also did not notice it having an issue running multiple applications either.

We reviewed Lenovo’s latest Tablet PC , the Lenovo ThinkPad X200.

This 12.1″ tablet has a fortified lid that uses carbon fiber on the top and glass fiber round the edges for added strength. It is definitely a solid ThinkPad with some new features like a bi-directional hinge, which is a bonus and it is powered by a 1.86GHz Core two Duo processor.

After all it’s a ThinkPad and lives up to its name and sturdiness. It sports the same matte black design, but new to the X200 is a bi-directional hinge, which is excellent for shows, very similar to the Fujitsu T2010. Weighing in around 3.8lbs with the 8-cell extended battery, this 12.1″ tablet is still light and thin sufficient to take where ever you go.

The X200 is packed with a good variety of features and if you spring for the dock you definitely will not be disappointed.

The X200 also now has 2 speakers on the bottom for better stereo sound rather than one spokesman like on the X61 series. Battery life appears way better as well, but we can that later because that is a vital feature for a mobile tablet. We did not notice any indications of color bleed, the display was actually nice and bright.

The X200 is like most other ThinkPad tablets with their LV processors, but the X200 sports a 1.86GHz Core two Pair processor that actually can get work done. The battery life on the X200 is meant to be better according to Lenovo and they claim up to ten hours of life with the 8-cell battery that extends out the back.

If you get the 4-cell they continue to claim 4-5 hours and the tablet weighs less. The unit we have has the 8-cell and it was showing six hours on Balanced / High Performance battery life with a full charge. The 8-cell gives a pleasant handle to snatch on to whilst in tablet mode too.

The colours are bold and clear and though the screen is 12.1-inches, we had no problem reading or viewing any documents.

Always Innovative recently introduced its new tablet PC Touch Book.

The Touch Book offers the same basic design as most notebooks, with an 8.9″ screen, compact keyboard and low-power processor. The top section of this computer homes all the system elements so it can work separate of the keyboard “docking station”. No other netbook approaches this, but it comes at the price of the 600MHz ARM processor, which is restricted to running stripped down software.

For ordinary typing documents, Internet browsing or custom applications Touch Book performs very well. But when you begin to run more CPU-intensive jobs like multimedia ( audio / video ) playback, you hit hardware performance boundaries.

I personally can’t wait to get my hands on one of these as quickly as they come out. My mind is filling with ideas starting from cheap custom interfaces for a home theatre system to a netbook that may stay powered the complete length of a global flight.

The Touch Book should be available for pre-order sometime the week after next with a computed May or June ship date.
